GFPGAN

There are hundreds of AI-based image enhancement tools, but the best we’ve used so far is GFPGAN. It can upscale low-quality, low-resolution photo portraits to almost unbelievable results.

Whenever you need to upscale an older headshot or restore a family photograph, you can use the free GFPGAN Inference Demo tool. Here’s how to do it:

1. Preparations — just click the play icon when you hover over the gray area and wait a minute for it to finish
2. Upload Images — click play and upload image(s) you wish to upscale
3. Inference — change the -s 2 parameter to produce a larger image (n-times the original image), click play
4. Visualize – skip this step, or click the play buttons to preview results
5. Download results — click play, download and unzip the file, check the restored_imgs folder and you’re done
