Praising idleness

July 26

Feeling unproductive lately? You're not alone. In her latest article, Sarah Duran reminds us how important rest is, not just for productivity, but for our well-being. Society stigmatizes idleness, equating it with laziness, while work is seen as virtuous. It's time to rethink our views, says Sarah and references Bertrand Russell, who challenged this notion, suggesting that too much work is harmful and that idleness can be beneficial.

"I firmly believe that focus is crucial for thriving and doing deep work, but focus only works when you’re willing to give yourself the space to be idle and truly rest," she writes.
