• 2022 — Delivered workshops in UiPath and Automation for a client in the public sector (UK).
• 2021
• Embraced the new normal and began offering online workshops.
• Interview at NEWTON Minds on AI and automation.
• Began lecturing at the University of New York in Prague and Newton University.
• Led a pricing project for a top 3 national bank under PwC.
• Responsible for the analytics stream in an anti-money laundering project for a top 5 bank in southeast Asia, under PwC.
• 2020
• Talk on data science freelancing at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv.
• Cooperation with FaceUp to promote healthy workplace environments in Mexico. Featured in the local media here and here (in Spanish).
• Partnership with Doyá Bienestar Organizacional providing HR analytics and technology consultancy services in Latin America.
• 2019
• Delivered 15 workshops across Europe.
• Workshop on Machine Learning for IoT and Sensor Data in Lviv.
• Consultancy engagement under Actum related to the analysis of sensors and IoT data in manufacturing. Under the new reporting system the end client reduced waste significantly (high double-digits percentage).
• Deep Learning with R for Beginners launched (an update from my previous book).
• Talk on Adopting Machine Learning Models as Part of the Business.
• 2018
• Cooperation with Datamole (an AI boutique consultancy) as a senior data scientist. Project lead and responsible for pre-sales and new business development.
• Taught a few more research seminars at FIT, and supervised bachelor and master’s theses in data science and machine learning.
• Introductory machine learning workshop at the Czech National Bank.
• Publication of my second book by Packt Publishing, R Deep Learning Projects, co-authored with best-selling author Hayden Liu.
• 2017
• Beginning of my freelance life, helping Actum build a data analytics team. Besides hiring and setting up best practices, we built prototypes and collaborated with sales and marketing teams to improve internal processes and generate a new line of business.
• Tech workshops for economics students at CERGE-EI (Economics Discovery Hub).
• Lecturer at the Faculty of Information Technology (FIT) at the Czech Technical University.
• Invited to teach as Guest Lecturer at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv.
• Workshop on Reinforcement Learning and Artificial Intelligence for O’Reilly Media.
• Speaker at Machine Learning Meetups in Prague, on Reinforcement Learning.
• 2016
• Worked as a consultant for PwC, helping to develop initial prototypes in R and Shiny for an anti-money laundering tool used for identifying suspicious behavior.
• Setting up the hiring process to scale up data science capabilities at PwC. Interviewed over 100 candidates to build a world-class team in Prague that led worldwide initiatives around data analytics and artificial intelligence.
• Release of my first book, “Building Shiny Apps” on Leanpub and Amazon (self-published).
• 2015 — Development of first models of age and gender inference based on web search history for O2 Czech Republic, as well as other artificial intelligence models for customer segmentation, retargeting and ad-click prediction. Development was done in Python, several models were written from scratch, without relying on external libraries due to constraints in the development environment.
• 2014
• Completion of PhD in Applied Mathematics, Université Pierre et Marie Curie. Specialization in Game Theory and Markov Decision Processes / Reinforcement Learning. My thesis received an honorable mention from the jury.
• Moved from Paris to Prague.
• 2011–2014 — PhD Candidate in Applied Mathematics, Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France, under the direction of Sylvain Sorin. Our team belongs to the Institut de Mathématiques de Jussieu-Paris Rive Gauche, one of the largest and most important mathematical institutes in the world.
• 2009–2011
• Relocation to Europe from Mexico.
• Master in Industrial Mathematics at Technical University Kaiserslautern, Germany and Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria.
