I am a lawyer and investment advisor specialized in data privacy and cybersecurity. I help clients to implement security-by-design and data-privacy principles, launch new products and services, conduct privacy and cybersecurity due diligence on potential partners, assess privacy risk, and respond to data security incidents. I also help European companies and startups to raise capital and investments through my trustworthy partners in the Middle East (see below).
To introduce myself, here are some of my career highlights:
I work very closely with investors and family offices during the Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) due diligence process, following a rule that goes: Don’t acquire a company until you evaluate its data privacy and security. I provide a unique due diligence methodology that helps to identify the potential data breaches, data privacy and cybersecurity problems — before they become your problem.
Along with my investor partners, I identify unique business opportunities for medium and large size companies across both public and private sectors within the United Arab Emirates and Gulf Cooperation Council countries. I also facilitate seed capital and growth strategies for startups and entrepreneurs by developing an ecosystem that is an enabler between investor, innovator, public- and private-sector activities. I also provide mentoring to carefully selected startups, mainly in market strategy, fundraising, venture capital, business expansion and validation.
As an independent investment advisor, I work closely with The Private Investment Group, which is a global capital markets company operating in over 25 countries. Raising capital is one of the most critical parts of any business’ journey, and sourcing that money from the right place is key to its future success. Through strategic partnerships with some of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds, family offices, private equity funds, and UHNWI, we are able to not only raise capital but also bring onboard investors who create exceptional added value to any company.
If you are currently raising capital to grow your business and you are serious in your goal of attracting investors from the Middle East, then please do get back to me. We have a number of mandates from our strategic partnership with the Ministry of Investment in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait. Our partners in the Middle East are extremely active in allocations and transactions.
For example, one of our partners, the Saudi Public Investment Fund, has been scouting the world for bargain investments amid the economic wreckage of the coronavirus crisis. It seeks to enhance its investments in a number of different economic sectors (e.g., it has disclosed an 8.2% stake in the coronavirus-hit Carnival Corporation, sending the cruise operator’s shares nearly 30% higher).

Eva Skornickova is an exceptional professional with a rare specialty. As one of the very few experts, she understands truly deeply issues of GDPR and structural changes brought by this new European legislation to companies and institutions. I had the pleasure to work with Eva over a longer period of time, and I appreciate that thanks to her extensive experience in the top management of legal divisions for multinational corporations, she has a grasp of both the legal and managerial side of data-privacy issues. Thanks to her contacts from her previous diplomatic assignments as the Czech consul in Canada, she was also able to get to crucial information on the upcoming GDPR legislation much earlier than it hit media as the news of the day. If you are a larger company dealing with data privacy, cybersecurity, and GDPR issues, do whatever it takes to have Eva at your side. It will save you useless efforts and wasted time as well. She’s one in a thousand.
